Research Interests

My focus is on Foreign Affairs and Political Economy of East Asia. My specific interests are Chinese-U.S relations and how they will change in the near future. Despite massive cultural and political differences, we became increasingly intertwined with each other as the global economy continues to grow and shape policy between these two nations. I wish to research how the transition to a post-hegemonic world will affect the common person, how we can integrate more smoothly, and what new institutions can we create to facilitate positive changes. The key to this future is a better understanding of the Chinese culture and history, and what is and is not compatible with Western tendencies, which will help us avoid previous pitfalls in diplomacy.
