Miles M. Evers

Assistant Professor

Miles M. Evers studies the economic determinants of security policy, with an emphasis on U.S. diplomatic history. His research has appeared in the European Journal of International Relations, International Security, International Studies Quarterly, International Theory, and Perspectives on Politics. His book, The Price of Empire: American Entrepreneurs and the Origins of the United States’ First Pacific Empire, co-authored with Eric Grynaviski, is forthcoming with Cambridge University Press and explores the origins of American imperialism in the Pacific during the nineteenth century. His current book project, Private Wars, examines the influence of American corporations on U.S. foreign interventionism in Latin America, South Asia, and the Middle East since 1900. Prior to coming to Connecticut, he received his Ph.D. in Political Science at the George Washington University.
