Alumni Notes: Winter 2022

Salil Benegal ‘16 Ph.D. has been awarded promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure from the Trustees of Depauw University.

John Iadarola ‘06 (CLAS) is a political pundit and YouTube personality who hosts the online news show The Young Turks as well as The Damage Report, which offers a daily breakdown of what he views as “the true threats and challenges facing our country and our world.”

Katherine (Robinson) Walas ‘01 (CLAS) founded Indigo Specialty Underwriters last October with fellow alumnus Steve Adam ‘86 (CLAS). Indigo is a managing general agency that utilizes innovative technology to transform professional liability underwriting in a digital infrastructure. Katherine spent the previous 18 years at the insurance firm, AXA XL.

Andrew Colabella 13 (CLAS) was elected last November to his third term on the Representative Town Meeting Board in Westport, CT. Just recently, Andrew successfully petitioned to name the Staples High School track in Westport after Laddie Lawrence, who served the school since 1970 as its track coach. Andrew also led an initiative to name the school’s football field after Paul Lane, who coached high school football for 30 years. (Lane recently passed away at the age of 93).

Mary Kilgour ‘62 (CLAS), ‘66 M.A. is currently living as a retiree in Gainesville, Florida, where she does volunteer work. After spending 31 years as a foreign services officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development, Mary concluded her career as professor teaching at the National War College, at Georgetown University, and at the University of Florida.

Meghan Bowden Peterson ‘17 Ph.D. has been working with the Connecticut Police Transparency and Accountability Task Force, helping them prepare a final report with recommendations on various police reform topics.
