Alumni Notes: Late Fall 2024

Dr. Rhea Debussy (Ph.D ‘18)’s article, entitled “LGBTQ+ Voters in These 4 States Could Swing the 2024 Presidential Election“, was published in “The Conversation”. 

 

Emily Luna (CLAS ‘17) graduated from Western New England University School of Law with a J.D in May 2024. She recently joined Diana, Conti & Tunila, LLP in Manchester, CT as an associate attorney, where she works on real estate and business transactions. 

 

Adam S. Mocciolo, (CLAS ’97), has joined Akerman LLP, as a partner in the New York office, where he practices immigration and employment law and commercial litigation. 

 

Taesim Kim (Ph.D. ‘19)’s article, “Did the COVID-19 pandemic fuel public support for social protection?” was recently published in the Journal of Social Policy. 

 

Steve Del Visco (Ph.D. ‘18) accepted a position as a full Time Lecturer in Public Law at Georgia State University, where he teaches Constitutional Law, Civil Liberties, Judicial Process, and Introduction to American Law. 

 

Takiyah Harper-Shipman (Ph.D. ’17) is John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur, Chair & Associate Professor of Africana Studies at Davidson College. 

 

Sercan Canbolat (Ph.D. ’17) was interviewed for UConn Today’s article, “‘Hidden Gem’ at UConn Helps International Studies Scholars Find their Academic Home“. 

 

Daniel Stockemer (Ph.D. ‘10), the co-editor of International Political Science Association’s ‘International Political Science Review’, has been selected as a member of the International Science Council’s (ISC) Global Roster of Experts. 

 

Dr. Christopher Marsh (Ph.D. ‘98) is now Department Chair and an Associate Professor of International Security Studies at JSOMA (Joint Special Operations Master of Arts Program) at the National Defense University. 

 

Dr. Rosemary E. Shinko (Ph.D. ‘05) is now the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs in Global Inquiry at American University, Washington, DC. 

 

Dr. Gregory P. Williams (Ph.D. ‘14) is now the Director of the Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) program at Simmons University.  He received the 2022 NPSA Pi Sigma Alpha Best Paper award and was interviewed on the Jacobin Radio podcast “Long Reads” about the significance of Immanuel Wallerstein’s ideas for the contemporary crisis of capitalism.
